As Valentine’s Day approaches, it’s the perfect time to think about not just taking your significant other on a date, but taking your kids on a date, too. When planning a date, it’s always helpful to think about what your date enjoys and ways for you to have fun and connect while incorporating those interests.

So, how do you plan the perfect date with your kid(s)? Here are some fun activities that give both adults and children ways to engage.

Get hands-on education. Dig up dinosaur bones at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History or explore the galaxies at the Great Lakes Science Center. Both locations offer kids the chance to expand their minds and offer their “dates” plenty of chances to get hands-on, too. You both might just learn a thing or two!

Try a new activity together. You can take a parent/child cooking class at the Western Reserve School of Cooking. You can zipline or be a ninja together at Adrenaline Monkey or Play: CLE.

Or you can express your artistic sides at Pinot’s Palette (look for the Little Brushes events) or Color Me Mine. Completing a task with your child, especially one that’s new for both of you, is an awesome way to connect with them and build great memories.

Make eating an experience. Rather than just going out for a meal, try something that’s an interactive experience. If your little princes or princesses love tea parties, the Macaron Tea Room offers high tea plates for both kids and adults, with a fun dress-up corner, too.

At Dewey’s Pizza, you can have a view of the kitchen and watch as your pizza is being made. Duck Donuts lets you create and watch your perfect donutbeing made.

Valentine’s Day is about all the people you love in your life — and taking your kids on a true date, where you’re all participants in the activity, can be an awesome way to show your love and have a great time!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
