SUMMARY:EVENT OF THE WEEK - Bug Day: Bugs That Blend In
DESCRIPTION:Buzz\, hop or crawl on over to Penitentiary Glen Reservation for our annual celebration of all things buggy! Whether you are an insect enthusiast or just looking for a fun family outing\, Bug Day is a great way to explore the amazing world of creepy-crawly creatures through bug-themed stories\, crafts\, exhibits and more.\n\n\n  \n\n \n\n\n“This year’s theme highlights how insects use clever camouflage to hide in plain sight\,” explains Kristin Snider\, Nature Center Interpretive Manager at Lake Metroparks. “Sometimes you have to look closely to even spot them. Bug Day is a fun way for families to learn something new\, try hands-on activities\, and have a little fun too.”\n\n\nAttendees can enjoy bug-themed bingo\, sustainable crafts and camouflage discovery games\, as well as live bug encounters and carefully mounted insect displays. Bugman Education will also be on-site\, giving guests the chance to watch\, touch and even hold a variety of insects.\n\n\n  \n\n\nPhoto stations and interactive shows featuring animal ambassadors from the Lake Metroparks Kevin P. Clinton Wildlife Center will be available throughout the day. Children who participate in five or more activities can earn their very own “Bugology” degree.\n\n\nMiniature train rides will also be offered courtesy of the Lake Shore Live Steamers\, weather permitting. For safety reasons\, pregnant women are not permitted to ride\, and children must sit on their own (no lap sitting allowed).\n\n\nBug Day is presented by Ken Ganley Subaru Wickliffe\, Ken Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Mentor\, Sylvan Learning of Mentor and University School. Admission is free and no registration is needed. For details\, visit https://goto.lakemetroparks.com/bugday.
