March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. To spread the message of inclusion, the Akron Zoo called on its good friend Rose the tarantula, who is more than just your average arachnid — she is a seven-legged spider.
During her molting season a few years ago, Rose self-amputated one of her legs. However, her different abilities make her a unique member of the Akron Zoo family, and she continues to teach visitors about diversity and inclusion as part of the zoo’s animal ambassador team.
