Winter Wonder Days at Great Lakes Science Center

Winter Wonder Days at the Great Lakes Science Center runs now through January 2, with daily holiday-themed programming including:

  • Polysnow Hands-on Activity Cart – create your own “snow” as you discover the chemistry behind this substance that looks just like the real thing once it soaks up a little water.
  • Hockey Friction Hands-on Activity Cart – discover the role friction plays in a game of hockey, testing a miniature puck on different surfaces.
  • Gingerbread Scavenger Hunt – gingerbread people have taken refuge from the winter weather in the Science Center. Find them all and receive a prize.
  • Snowflake Symmetry Community Build – learn more about the mathematics behind symmetry and snowflakes, and then add yours to our large, community-built snow globe.
  • Fire and Ice Big Science Show – watch as we test the extremes of hot and cold during one of our favorite live science shows.

Plus, ring in the New Year at noon on December 31 with a special presentation of Cryoblast. This Big Science Show plunges to the super cold temperatures as we experiment with liquid nitrogen, building to the finale to welcome in the New Year with a bang!

Unless noted, activities are included with general admission.
