Dyslexia is a specific learning disability characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word reading. It often also impacts spelling. Dyslexia is the result of differences in how the brain processes information and is not related to a person’s vision, intelligence, or effort. Because of its effects on word-level reading and spelling, dyslexia can also limit reading experiences, making it harder to build vocabulary and background knowledge over time.
To recognize students with dyslexia who have demonstrated persistence through their schooling, NOBIDA is proud to offer the Stephanie Gordon Scholarship. This $500 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior with a documented reading disorder, such as dyslexia, who plans to continue learning at a college, university, or technical school.
The scholarship is named in honor of Stephanie Gordon, who is the founder of the International Dyslexia Association, Northern Ohio Branch. Her leadership and advocacy have supported countless families across our region, and she continues to empower students with dyslexia to pursue their goals with confidence and pride through this scholarship opportunity.
All eligible high school seniors are encouraged to apply by May 15, 2026: https://nobida.memberclicks.net/gordon-scholarship-26#/
