Northeast Ohio Family-Friendly Events for the Weekend of Oct. 14-16

With fall in full swing, the greater Cleveland area is bustling with many things to do this weekend. Check out the following highlights:

Oct. 14-15
The Uptown RootsFest in University Circle celebrates live American music with performances and documentaries. Don’t miss the children’s activities tent, courtesy of the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Children’s Museum of Cleveland.

Oct. 15
Horse Fun Day at Nicknack Farms is a family-friendly event that features horseback riding, games, trivia, crafts and learning for ages 6 & up.

Bring in a fossil, rock, mineral or artifact for identification, try primitive technologies, and hear about recent earthquake activity at Archaeology & Earth Science Day at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

It’s Super Science Saturday at the Akron Fossils & Science Center. This monthly event is filled with awesome hands-on learning opportunities.

Costumed canines will rule the day in Downtown Lakewood during the Spooky Pooch Parade, as proud pet owners will show off their dogs dressed in the finest Halloween fashions.

Monster Mash Halloween Bash at the Quirk Cultural Center in Cuyahoga Falls is a great reason to break out the Halloween costumes a little bit early for some non-scary fun for all ages.

Oct. 15-16
At Corn and Pumpkin Weekend at Lake Metroparks Farmpark,families can enjoy activities such as helping to husk, shell and grind the corn or plow behind draft horses. Kids can make handmade corn husk dolls and paint pumpkins. Also, try the hay and corn mazes, visit with farm animals, do kids’ crafts, view harvest demonstrations and more.
