Preschool Storytime
Children ages 3–5 can enjoy stories, songs, rhymes and activities that build early literacy and social skills. The program is designed to support reading readiness and the social and emotional skills kids need for kindergarten.Storytime meets Tuesdays from 11 to 11:30 a.m. in the Children's Room at the Cleveland Public Library's Sterling Branch, with sessions listed through Dec. 29. Children ages 0–3 and their caregivers can enjoy playful activities that encourage cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. This free play group meets Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Story Time Room at the Elyria Public Library's Central Branch. Remaining dates are Nov. 4, 11 and 18.No registration is required. Kids ages 6–11 create glowing turkey lanterns using colorful leaves and craft materials. Little artists turn simple jars into turkey lanterns, using leaves made on The HUB's Cricut Maker.The program runs 4–5:30 p.m. on both Wednesday, Nov. 4, and Wednesday, Nov. 11, at The HUB at Mentor High School. Children ages 9-17 with special needs can enjoy a fun and interactive theatre class full of games, movement-based storytelling, improvisation, and role-playing to build confidence, and encourage social connection in an inclusive and welcoming environment. Participants work on teamwork, communication, self-awareness, and decision-making while also exploring self-expression and imagination. Children ages 3-6 can build kindergarten readiness skills through activities, games, songs and stories. The class helps kids practice being away from a caregiver, listening to a teacher and working in a classroom setting.Meets Thursdays from 10:30–11:15 a.m. on Nov. 5, 12 and 19 and Dec. 3 and 10. Meet some of the center's resident animals and learn about wildlife. This 30-minute program offers up-close encounters with a variety of the Center's resident animals and is open to all ages.
