The Hudson Library & Historical Society celebrates Teen Tech Week, March 8-14, and joins thousands of other libraries and schools across the country celebrating this year’s theme, “Libraries are for Making.”
Teen Tech Week is a national initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) aimed at teens, their parents, educators and other concerned adults.
The week encourages teens to take advantage of the technology at libraries for education and recreation, and to recognize that librarians are qualified, trusted professionals who can help them achieve greater digital literacy.
Tuesday, March 10, 3:30 p.m.
Teens in grades 6-12 will learn how to create a simple 3D model on Tinkercad software, and then design something on the library’s 3D printer.
Thursday, March 12, 3:30 p.m.
They also will have the opportunity to develop their own video game in “Scratch” and then make a game controller using “Makey Makey,” an invention kit that turns everyday items into touchpads.
Saturday, March 14, 2 p.m.
Finally, teens compete against their friends in an epic
“Super Smash Brothers” tournament on the Wii U.
