Hello, everyone! My name is Jessica and I’m so excited to join the Northeast Ohio Parent magazine blogger team!
A few words I would use to describe myself: Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Friend, Catholic & Journalist.
I am married to the greatest man in the world, Michael, and we just had our first baby, Vivian Therese, in November 2019!
I created my blog, www.jessicalynndill.com, to write for you all as we navigate through this little thing we call life! I try to use my posts to spread love and positivity with a little humor sprinkled in.
If you recognize my name, you might be a fan of Fox 8 News. I spent the past almost-five years as a morning reporter and fill-in anchor for the awesome TV station. I decided to take a quick break after the birth of Vivian, but I promise I will be back to TV soon!
As for my writing background, I have been a journalist for more than a decade.
While working at Fox 8, I covered big political stories including the first Presidential Debate among the 12 Republican Candidates in 2015 and Donald Trump’s 2016 Republican National Convention.
In sports news, I covered the Cleveland Indians 2016 World Series trip and three NBA finals, including an all-night, commercial-free show after the Cavs’ 2016 championship win, followed by the amazing parade!
Before coming home to Cleveland, I was a morning anchor for years in Lima, Ohio, and then in Augusta, Ga.
I received my bachelor’s in journalism from Bowling Green State University and my master’s in journalism from Northwestern University.
I got my start as a backpack journalist in Chicago, covering stories including President Obama’s Election Day, Governor Blagojevich’s impeachment, and escalating turmoil in the South Side gangs. While at Northwestern University, I worked in Washington, D.C. as a Capitol Hill correspondent for stations across the country.
I’m proud to say I have been awarded for my journalism, too. I have won multiple anchor and reporting awards over my career, including winning an Edward R. Murrow for my story, “Criminals in the Classroom.”
While I love to write for broadcast journalism, I’m having so much fun on this new parenting and blogging journey. I’m excited to bring you some entertaining posts about the trials and triumphs of being a new mom!
Covering breaking news has always been a good challenge, but now, after waking up four times a night to feed our baby, I feel as though I can take on just about anything!
I can’t wait to start blogging for you all! Feel free to send me your post ideas, as well. You can always check out my Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter, too!
