Hello! I’m Aisha and I am the founder of FNPhenomenal, a community designed to help single moms thrive financially and live phenomenally using Biblical principles.
I am new to the Northeast Ohio Parent blogger community and I am so excited to be here. This opportunity is amazing to me because Northeast Ohio Parent magazine was one of the first magazines I read when I moved back to Cleveland two years ago. As I was walking into Melt Bar & Grilled one day, I saw the magazine, picked it up and started browsing at the table. I was surprised by the number of things that went on in Northeast Ohio! This made me even more excited to move back to Cleveland, which is my home.
A little about me…
Prior to moving back to Cleveland (I was born and raised here), I lived in Detroit, Mich. I probably shouldn’t share this, but I attended the University of Michigan for graduate school and I received my undergraduate degree from Duke University. I moved back to Cleveland when my twins were approaching 1 year old. It was initially a hard decision to move back to Cleveland because I built my life in Detroit, had a beautifully decorated nursery for the twins and moving felt like I was giving up. There I was, this strong woman and I felt that moving meant I couldn’t cut it and I was throwing in the towel. However, as a single mom of twins, I understood that I couldn’t do this on my own and that returning home would allow me and my children to have the support, closeness and love from my family. Once I shifted my perspective to focus on everything I was gaining, I felt so much gratitude, peace and joy. I am so grateful that we moved back.
In addition to being a full-time mom, I am also a blogger for FNPhenomenal, I lead a Bible study, teach personal finance workshops, and so much more. I am committed to helping other moms who may be feeling as if they are in this motherhood journey by themselves. Therefore, through FNPhenomenal I share money management tips, inspiration, and tips to show that it’s possible to live an amazing life and have phenomenal experiences as a single mom.
Additionally, one of my favorite things to do is to challenge myself to find creative, phenomenal experiences for my children on a budget. This is why discovering Northeast Ohio Parent magazine that day at Melt was so powerful not just for the kid-friendly and budget-friendly activities. Those are great, but it also meant so much more for me. It showed me that just like I built a life in Detroit, I could do the same in Cleveland. There are so many activities, plus kid-friendly and budget-friendly things to do in Northeast Ohio. Most days for the twins and me are not the same, because I challenge myself to criss-cross around the town to find cool things to do. One of the amazing things about this is that I get to see my hometown from an entirely new perspective. I get to see Cleveland as an adult, but I also get to see it through the eyes of my children. It is so much fun to take my children to new places because I appreciate the beauty of the little things even more.
In my column I’m going to write about personal finances (I promise it won’t be scary or intimidating because I love to make finances approachable), creating phenomenal experiences on a budget, and other random musings I may have (I love to challenge myself to constantly grow as a woman and as a mom, so you may get to read about that).
I can’t wait to share my tips and experiences with you all. I also I look forward to getting to know you and I hope that you enjoy the column! If you have any ideas or topics that you want me to discuss, please email me at [email protected].
