Explore Ohio’s Last Ice Age with Cleveland Museum of Natural History

What was Ohio like during the last ice age? In this video, Dr. Caitlin Colleary walks viewers through the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s newest exhibit.

The last major ice age in Earth’s history occurred during the Pleistocene Epoch, which lasted from 2.58 million years ago to 11,700 years ago. In some ways, our world was very different during the Pleistocene. The Earth was about 10°F colder, with ice sheets stretching all the way down to Ohio and giant mammals roaming the land.

In this limited-time exhibit, discover the wildlife that once lived in our region and explore the powerful geological forces — glaciers — that made our landscape what it is today.
