Aquarists at Greater Cleveland Aquarium recently went behind the scenes to introduce their newest addition, a cownose stingray baby.
Typically, adult female cownose stingrays give birth to one pup per year. The pups are ready to survive on their own from birth — in fact, they’re even born with their barbs! Watch this video to learn more about the species.
Currently, the pup is in a temporary monitoring area. Eventually, it will join the other cownose stingrays in a viewable habitat located in GCA’s Coastal Boardwalk exhibit.
