Canton Country Day School was founded in 1964 by seven members of the community who desired to form an independent school that would offer a progressive learning environment for all families. CCDS is passionate about developing student leaders through a rigorous, innovative curriculum of fine arts, public speaking, project-based learning, and character education. Their 40-acre outdoor classroom, generously donated by the Timken Family, allows students to explore science and wildlife in the middle of Canton, Ohio.

Canton Country Day School seeks to educate students from preschool through eighth grade through an individual lens, igniting them with confidence and character, while developing academic responsibility and rigor in an interactive and innovative environment to ready them for the next chapter of their lives.

Athletics and Arts offered at the school help to make well-rounded students. The school encourages students to participate in three seasonal sports activities – soccer, basketball, and track and field. Beginning in the elementary grades, the arts curriculum provides a foundation of the concepts and skills in the visual arts, music, drama, and creative movement. As students progress to middle school, the approach to the arts is broadened. Students participate in several arts classes throughout the year, including the musical, jazz band, choreography, filmmaking, digital photography, and sculpture.

At Canton Country Day School, students are intentionally asked big questions. The educators believe that learning must go beyond the classroom; students need to think about their lessons in the context of their families, their peers, their world, and their role in the midst of all this. The students use their schoolwork to understand who they are as individuals and to appreciate the different perspectives of those around them. Canton Country Day School helps students find their voices, hear the voices of others, and identify ways to engage in the world and make it better.

“Canton Country Day School has provided our daughters with amazing opportunities to grow and learn in a safe and creative environment,” said Maureen and Patrick Ater. “We are blessed to have such outstanding resources, curriculum, and faculty right in our own backyard. There was no better choice for our family than Canton Country Day School.”

Canton Country Day School has been recognized as a Wildlife School and a United States Blue Ribbon School. Throughout its history, Canton Country Day School has established a tradition of excellence for which it is well-known throughout the Stark County area. Today, the school reaffirms its commitment to providing an outstanding education to the diverse group of students that it serves. Students come to the school with a variety of talents, backgrounds, and expectations. Due to small class sizes and an outstanding faculty, the school provides an instructional program and educational environment that strives to develop each student to his or her maximum potential.

“At CCDS, we recognize that your child is unique in how they learn, interact and approach the world,” explained Becky Stewart, director of Enrollment Management. “For more than 50 years, our committed teachers, through our innovative educational philosophy, have helped children discover the way they learn best and the best way to use all that they have learned. Do not miss the opportunity for your child to grow and find his or her authentic self.”
