Looking for a head start on the new school year? Worried about the Third Grade Reading Guarantee?

Our four-week, Lions Leap summer program provides children entering grades 1-6 – and those repeating kindergarten – Lawrence School’s same proven methods offered during the academic year in a fun and supportive environment. Through this half-day program, children are able to experience academic success, learn valuable organizational skills, and discover new strategies that can be carried into the new school year.

Highlights include:

– Reading, writing and math instruction all taught with a multi-sensory approach.

– Classes that are small in size, highly structured, and non-graded.

– Organizational skills and strategies that are embedded into learning process.

– Instruction that is direct and explicit with frequent checks for understanding.

– Regular breaks for outdoor activity and social engagement throughout the morning

Socially, students are empowered to broaden friendships, increase self-esteem, and see learning as fun. Through positive reinforcement and a structured, comfortable environment, students experience academic success – some for the first time.

Lions Leap is held from 8 a.m. to Noon during the week from June 12 to July 10 at Lawrence Lower School campus in Broadview Heights. Classes run from Monday to Friday each week, with the exception of the July 4 holiday, and the cost is $1,000.

Older students
Those entering grades 6-8 – are encouraged to consider our Jump Start program, which is geared towards individuals who may have struggled in school during the previous year and may benefit from a short-term, back-to-school readiness program. Students will also have the opportunity to make new friends and have fun engaging in hands-on leadership and communication activities.

Both full (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and half-day (8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.) Jump Start sessions are available during the week of August 5-9 at Lawrence Upper School campus in Sagamore Hills. Students who enroll in full-day classes will engage in hands-on leadership activities that aim to turn potential into performance in a highly interactive, life-skills based experience about personal responsibility, self-empowerment and communication skills. The full-day sessions are available for $395 while half-day classes cost $195.
