Arthritis Foundation Adds Board Members, Honors Volunteers at Meeting

AwardsCeremony The Arthritis Foundation, Great Lakes Region, Northeastern Ohio welcomed six new members to its Board at its Annual Meeting held July 15 at the Shaker Heights Country Club in Shaker Heights.

Mark McLendon, sales manager, ComDoc; Nicholas DiNicola, M.D., orthopaedic surgeon, Akron General Medical Center; Elizabeth Quinn, owner, Massage Envy Spa; Julie Khieu, senior benefits analyst, Aleris International, Inc.; Grace Rice, vice president, Business Training Manager – Risk Management, PNC; and Gary Calabrese, PT, DPT, senior director, Rehabilitation and Sports Therapy, Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute, Cleveland Clinic, accepted three-year terms.

Glade T. Pauley, M.A., ATC began a one-year term as board chair with Mark Froimson, M.D., serving as immediate past chair. Abby Goulder Abelson, M.D., Daniel P. Walsh, Jr. and Steven A. Carter were thanked for their service as their terms expired.

Several volunteers and institutions were honored for their outstanding contributions and leadership. Among them were Legacy Village, Joanne and Don Epstein, John and Megan Faust and their daughters, Anna and Sarah, and Jennifer Meyer and Beth Hutchison.

Also recognized as outstanding Arthritis Foundation program trainers were volunteers: Karen Dudash, Joani Huber, Sandy McLeod, Linda McVey, Nikki Cross, Lauren Evans, Gretchen Julian, Linda Lavalle, Stephanie Lowery, Carol Mabry, Stacey Murray, Theresa Sambor and Debby Speck. Staff member and national trainer Maribeth Curry was also recognized.
