Gilmour Academy is First Steinway Select K-12 School in the Midwest

Gilmour Academy has begun the process of becoming a Steinway Select K-12 School, which means that every piano on Gilmour’s campus will soon be replaced with a new Steinway piano.

Upon completion, Gilmour will be the first Steinway K-12 Select School in the Midwest. Only eight schools in the country have earned this distinction to date.

Gilmour will celebrate the initiative’s launch with the delivery of its first three new Steinway grand pianos on Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m. at the Gilmour Academy Lower School, located at 35001 Cedar Road in Gates Mills. The interactive program will include a piano performance by a Gilmour Academy student, and remarks from Gilmour’s Head of School Kathy Kenny and Matthew P. Figgie, a 1984 Gilmour graduate, who with the Figgie Foundation and Figgie Capital, provided the school with the new Steinway pianos.
