Tri-C Offers New Kids Foreign Language & Culture Academy

Foreign Language Learning ClassCuyahoga Community College’s Continuing and Community Education program is excited to announce new kids classes, starting with the Kids Foreign Language & Culture Academy. This unique beginners language series offers French, German and Spanish courses that not only introduce children to the languages, but also to each culture’s interesting traditions and way of life in fun lessons appropriate for their age group, either 7-9 years old or 10-12 years old.

Learning New Languages is Good for Your Child’s Brain*

New research is showing that being bilingual, or knowing more than language, is good for cognitive function. Studies suggest that learning a new language at a young age can help boost executive function, meaning it can help boost a child’s ability to focus and solve complex problems. While researchers are still trying to discover exactly how it works, studies show children who know more than one language typically perform better at mentally complex tasks than children who only know one language. Scientists are even finding that being bilingual can help delay or prevent the onset of dementia and other diseases as we age, providing lasting benefits.

Give Your Child a Brain Boost

Tri-C’s new classes will cover basic communication, such as greetings, questions and answers, and basic vocabulary. Your child will learn words for colors, shapes, numbers, animals and more, expanding their world through a new language and skills. Lessons will be taught using playful dynamics, games, flashcards, posters and songs that not only make the classes fun for children, but also provide helpful tools to help remember the new words and phrases. By the end of the four-week course, your child will be able to have a basic conversation in a new language.

Classes start Sept. 20, so register your child for this new program today by calling 216-987-2333 or visit our Web site, http://bit.ly/1uPQ8Hg.
