Turning Summer Break Into an Adventure

Summer is the perfect time to explore beyond the classroom. The Fourth Grade History Pass Plus encourages children and their families to experience history firsthand through immersive exhibits, historic landmarks, interactive museums and educational attractions.

Instead of simply reading about the past, students can walk through historic buildings, stand where important events took place and discover the innovations, leaders and communities that helped shape Ohio and the nation.

Families can spend the day exploring an aviation museum, touring a historic home, visiting a presidential site, learning about Native American history, discovering stories from the Underground Railroad or experiencing hands-on exhibits that bring history and culture to life.

Every destination offers a new opportunity to learn something together while creating lasting family memories.

As part of Ohio’s statewide effort to engage families in exploring the people, places, and stories that have shaped our state during America’s 250th anniversary, this program connects classroom learning with real-world experiences in a fun, meaningful way.

A July Program Designed for Ohio 4th Graders & Their Families

As part of Ohio’s statewide effort to engage families in exploring the people, places, and stories that have shaped our state during America’s 250th anniversary, this program connects classroom learning with real-world experiences in a fun, meaningful way.

The Fourth Grade History Pass Plus builds on the success of the Ohio Fourth Grade History Pass program. Fourth grade is the year students learn about Ohio history, so the program helps connect students with educational and cultural experiences they learn about throughout their fourth grade year.

For the special July promotion, eligible fourth graders receive free admission along with up to three accompanying family members at participating locations. This expanded benefit makes it easier for entire families to take part in the experience and enjoy meaningful outings without the burden of admission costs.

Families can use the pass at participating attractions throughout July, choosing destinations that match their interests and schedules. Some may choose to visit sites in their own community, while others may plan a larger Ohio road trip centered around history, culture and exploration.

No matter where families go, the goal is the same: helping young Ohioans discover the stories, people and places that connect us to our shared past.

Why Parents Love the Program

Parents are always looking for activities that are educational, engaging and affordable. The Fourth Grade History Pass Plus checks all three boxes.

The program encourages curiosity and lifelong learning while giving families a chance to spend quality time together. It also helps children see history as something more than dates and textbooks by connecting lessons learned in school with real-world experiences.

Many participating sites offer interactive exhibits, demonstrations, guided tours and special programming that make learning fun and memorable for visitors of all ages.

And because attractions are located throughout Ohio, families can discover destinations they may never have considered visiting before.
