Libraries and organizations throughout Northeast Ohio offer summer reading programs geared toward children and teens of all ages and skill levels that will keep them engaged and learning throughout the summer months.

Summer festivals bring good food, great music and family-friendly fun. They also offer a wide variety of learning opportunities, from culture and arts to community history. We provide a listing of festivals throughout the month of June, along with some happenings in July. No matter what your family wants to do, we have a festival for you.

What do you do if your child is already singing the summertime boredom blues? Try filling their days with an assortment of creative, educational and exhilarating activities. Not only will you fight off boredom, you'll create plenty of new memories while relaxing, playing and learning together as a family.

Spend some time as a family and clear out what you no longer need. For some extra motivation, approach your cleaning with a fresh perspective: donating your gently-used items will help others while freeing up space for new memories.

Join in the family-friendly fun at this free event! Kids can bounce on interactive inflatables, spin an activity wheel, enter to win an iPad, make​​ and take crafts and more. Enjoy roaming performances by Peter Pan, Captain Hook and Tinker Bell. The event is sponsored in part by Cuyahoga Community College, Lake Ridge Academy, Magnificat High school and Westlake Porter Public Library.

The big cats at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo have a new place to stretch out and be themselves at the Rosebrough Tiger Passage, which opened on Friday. The larger exhibit space allows for education programs, including talking to the public about conservation efforts and tiger issues.

County residents of all ages are invited to register for Cuyahoga County Public Library’s 2016 Get in the Game summer reading program sponsored by the Cleveland Indians. In conjunction with the start of the reading program, CCPL branches are hosting a variety of family-friendly celebrations.

Girl Scouts of North East Ohio offers a variety of outdoor experiences to spark curiosity and understanding about the natural world. The best part is, she doesn’t have to already be a Girl Scout to experience all the “fun and firsts” of camp. Summer is a great time to join.
