Enjoy Concours D’Elegance at Stan Hywet

Stan Hywet ConcoursJoin Stan Hywet for a weekend of events inspired by the original Concours d’Elegance of the 1920s and 30s.

Tickets are now on sale for the Concours d’Elegance at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, a weekend of events that begins with a “backyard” barbeque on Stan Hywet’s historic West Terrace on September 19 and culminates with the Concours d’Elegance on, September 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The weekend includes elegant automobiles, art, fashion, music, food, entertainment, and celebrity guests. The concours will feature more than 170 invitation-only automobiles from throughout the United States, exhibiting the great American and European motorcars of the 1920s and 1930s.

The show includes Pierce-Arrow, Duesenberg, Packard Darrin, pre-1929 American motorcycles, Cord, classic American woodies, a fully operational replica of the 1770 Cugnot Fardier steam carriage (the world’s first self-propelled vehicle), and a class of “vehicles that defy description”.

This weekend of cultural experiences represents the art of fine living – a nod to the grandeur of the original 1920s Councours. Attendees will enjoy a high tea, a fall trends fashion show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue, gourmet food trucks, musical entertainment, an automotive art exhibition and unique tours of Stan Hywet (designed just for Councours).

The art show and sale include 2014 poster artist Jay Koka and other well-known automotive artists. Automotive authors Alain Cerf, B. S. Levy and Tom Saal will be signing and selling copies of their books. Celebrity guests include Wayne Carini, host of Chasing Classic Cars; Leigh and Leslie Keno of PBS’ Antiques Road Show; and Moray Callum, design director of the Ford Motor Company. Tickets to Sunday’s Concours are $35 for adults and $14 for youth (ages 6-17).

There is no additional charge to attend the fashion show and lectures on Sunday, although seating is limited. Visit concours.stanhywet.org or call 330-315-3287 to purchase tickets.

Stan Hywet is located at 714 N. Portage Path in Akron, Ohio.
