Join the Northeast Ohio Chapter of Sisters in Crime for an afternoon of panels dedicated to the mystery genre on Sunday, August 10 from 1:15 to 4:45 p.m. at the Beachwood Branch Library.

Panelists include special guest author Daniel Stashower; scholar of the mystery genre Dr. Katherine Clark; local authors Shelley Costa, Amanda Flower, Kylie Logan, Mara Purnhagen, Sam Thomas and Jane Turzillo; librarian Cari Dubiel; freelance editor Jennifer Fisher; and bookstore manager Jim Huang. Refreshments, books signings and a mystery trivia contest!

1:15 p.m. –Welcome

1:20-2 p.m.–Choose one:

a) Interview with Daniel Stashower (Katherine Clark, interviewer)

b) How to Write a Killer Query Letter (Mara Purnhagen) –Separate preregistration for this craft workshop is required. Please call 216-749-9309 to preregister.

2-2:40 p.m. –Publishing Confidential: An Insider’s View on the State of Mystery Publishing (Jennifer Fisher, Jim Huang –Kylie Logan, Moderator). What are the current issues in mystery publishing? What are editors and booksellers looking for?

2:40-3 p.m. –Break

3:00-3:40 p.m.–The Faces of Mystery (Daniel Stashower, Kylie Logan, Shelley Costa, Amanda Flower, Sam Thomas, Mara Purnhagen, Katherine Clark, Jane Turzillo — Cari Dubiel, Moderator). Authors discuss the kinds of mysteries they write, recommend favorite titles in crime writing, and answer your questions.

3:40-4:20 p.m.–Mystery Trivia Contest (Daniel Stashower, Margaret Reardon). So you think you know your mysteries? You can win a prize!

4:20-4:45 p.m. –Signings (All)
