Great Lakes Science Center launched a new virtual series of early childhood STEM programming videos to continue its efforts during the statewide shutdown to provide educators and families with a unique range of engagement options.
The program features a series of videos on the science center’s website aimed at families with children ages 5 and younger. Each video features a book that families can read along with, and a related experiment that can be conducted at home using common household items. Topics include skyscrapers, rockets, wind power and slimy science, and introductory concepts such as sorting, coding and buoyancy.
The activities encourage learning through play focusing on concepts that are important for young children’s developing brains, as well as critical problem solving skills.
The science center’s website continues to add assets to appeal to families looking for virtual options from trusted sources as they stay at home, as well as teachers looking to supplement virtual classroom activities as they shift to online learning.
