With the cooler temperatures and colorful foliage, fall in Northeast Ohio is a great time to enjoy spending time outdoors with your family. If hiking is on your family’s fall bucket list, be sure to check out two park districts in the region that offer fall hiking programs that challenge participants to visit a variety of local trails and earn rewards.
Summit Metro Parks — 55th Annual Fall Hiking Spree
The Fall Hiking Spree is the largest and longest-running event of its kind in the nation. Trails range from easy to challenging, so hikers can choose the trails that best fit their abilities. Complete at least eight designated trails between September 1 and November 30 to receive rewards. First-year hikers receive a hiking staff and shield, while veteran hikers receive this year’s shield to add to their staff.
Medina County Park District — Trekking Through Autumn
Get out and explore Medina County parks during the 12th annual Trekking through Autumn program. Participants who hike eight or more designated trails between September 1 and November 30 will receive an award. First-year hikers earn a backpack, and veteran hikers earn a pin.
