Throughout the summer, Magical Theatre Company’s campers learned online via Zoom from its professional instructors at “Academy of Superheroes,” “Magical Wizarding Camp,” and most recently “The Show Must Go Online,” an online musical which will have its free debut Friday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m.
“The Show Must Go Online” is a new musical written to be rehearsed and performed remotely. In this first-of-its-kind online musical, a frazzled director sends a video message announcing that their production of “Brushes with Greatness: The Dental Hygiene Musical” has been canceled, and that the company will probably shut down. The cast members take it upon themselves to save the day. The result is “a comedic and timely storyline designed to lift spirits when we all need it the most,” according to Magical Theatre Company.
Campers rehearsed and filmed their individual scenes, which have been edited and will be shown free to the public on Magical Theatre Company’s social media channels and website, magicaltheatre.org.
The show is directed by Magical Theatre’s co-producing directors Dennis O’Connell and Holly Barkdoll, choreographed by Mary-Elizabeth Fenn, musical direction by Craig Raymaley, book by Jessica Penzias, lyrics by David Hudson, and music by Denver Casado.
