Main Street Kent presents the Squirrel’s New Year’s Resolution Story Walk, a fun, family-friendly activity promoting literacy, activity, fresh air, and community. All are invited to head downtown to read Squirrel’s New Year’s Resolution by Pat Miller, page by page, in the business windows of downtown Kent, enjoying shopping, fresh air, treats, and warm beverages along the way. This edition of the Story Walk will run from December, 23 through January 31, 2021.
The story will begin at Popped! (138 E. Main St.), where printed maps will be available, or the map can be downloaded at mainstreetkent.org/events/story-walk-kent. Each window display will indicate the next business to visit in order to continue the story. All guests are invited to sign the online guest book at the end and share their New Year’s resolutions on the event page. Resolutions will be shared in a window display and on MSK social media. Donations of non-perishable food items for “Squirrel’s Helping Box” will be collected at participating businesses, as we join “Squirrel” in his mission to “do something nice for someone each day.” (Read the story to learn more!) Items will be donated to Kent Social Services.
“We’re excited to bring another Story Walk to the community, as the need for outdoor activity is still in high demand,” Main Street Kent executive director Heather Malarcik says. “With kids being home for the holiday break, this will be a nice opportunity to get out and do something healthy, educational and helpful to others,”
