University Circle Announces Uptown Summer Series 2019

University Circle Inc. and Case Western Reserve University have announced a full schedule of free summer events in University Circle’s Uptown District.

The fun begins on Saturday, June 1, with the Uptown Miniature Golf and Ice Cream Social from noon-5 p.m. Test your putting skills on the special pop-up nine-hole miniature golf course. Finish the miniature golf course and relax with complimentary scoops from Piccadilly Artisan Creamery and Mitchell’s Ice Cream (While supplies last.) Additional complimentary games will be hosted all throughout the plaza, including human foosball, whack-a-wall, and battle lights.

Shape Up Sundays

Free outdoor fitness classes with instructors from Next Level Fitness and Tremont Athletic club. All experience levels are invited.

Class Schedule:
10 a.m.:  Yoga with Next Level Fitness
11 a.m.:  Hustle & Flow with Tremont Athletic Club (cardio, strength, yoga)

Bring your own yoga mat and water bottle. In the event of rain, classes will be moved to the covered area located outside Tremont Athletic Club.
*No classes 7/7 due to holiday weekend

All events listed below take place on Toby’s Plaza, located at the southeast corner of Mayfield Road and Euclid Avenue. All events and activities are free and open to the public. Weather permitting.

Dinner with Strangers
Friday, June 14
7-11 p.m. | Toby’s Plaza & moCa
Mix, mingle, and make new friends. Dinner with Strangers is a complimentary three-course, al fresco, and casual networking dinner. Food from some of your Uptown favorites, along with networking games, DJ and cash bar. Limited complimentary dinner tickets available. Tickets released online through Eventbrite on Wednesday, May 15.  moCa will be open to the public with additional activities inside the museum including: dodgeball, musical chairs, and more.

Rolling for the River
Saturday, June 22
Noon-5 p.m. | Toby’s Plaza & moCa
Celebrating clean water on the 50th anniversary of the Cuyahoga River fire. Free roller-skating party inside moCa. Special guests, Burning River Roller Girls. $5 Skate rental to benefit the Burning River Foundation. More fun on Toby’s Plaza including “Go Racers” course. Race your friends on electric toilet racers on Toby’s Plaza. Plus, learn more about clean water initiatives happening throughout Northeast Ohio.

Common Ground Conversation
Sunday, June 30
Noon-2 p.m. | Toby’s Plaza
Cleveland Foundation’s Common Ground events will be happing all throughout the city. Meet at the Great Picnic Table on Toby’s Plaza for a community conversation on the topic, “environment.” Conversation hosted by moCa Cleveland with University Circle Inc. and Case Western Reserve University. In the event of rain, event will be moved to moCa Cleveland. Afternoon snacks and beverages provided.

Moon Landing Party
Saturday, July 20
7-11 p.m. | Toby’s Plaza
An out of this world evening celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Sky watching and moon landing talk with the astronomers from Cleveland Museum of Natural History, special outdoor showing of the movie, “First Man” (2018), the story of Neil Armstrong. Plus, space-themed games including: moon-walk bounce house for kids, solar system slingshot, “Armstrong” strength games with the Tremont Athletic Club and virtual reality games.

SaturStravaganzaPalooza
Saturday, August 10
10 a.m.-5 p.m. | Toby’s Plaza & moCa
Summer celebration of moCa 50th anniversary. Full day of activities inside moCa and on Toby’s Plaza. The party kicks off with free morning yoga and complimentary breakfast, followed by hands-on arts activities. Fans of Bob Ross can create their own “happy accidents” during the paint along party on Toby’s Plaza. moCa will open at 11 a.m. with free admission, hands-on art activities from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., and close out the celebration from 3-5 p.m. with John Cage MusicCircus, musicians from a range of styles and disciplines will perform simultaneously throughout the museum.

Woodstock 50th Celebration
Saturday, August 17
2-7 p.m. | Toby’s Plaza
Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Woodstock Festival with live music from local Grateful Dead tribute band, Into the Blue performing two sets on Toby’s Plaza from 4-7 p.m. Other activities include Woodstock Yoga with Tremont Athletic Club, plus tie dye t-shirt making (bring your own shirt to dye), Woodstock photo booth, DJ and more. Dave’s Cosmic Rock Club will be on Toby’s Plaza with peace, love, and subs.

End of Summer Party
Saturday, September 21
7-11 p.m. | Toby’s Plaza
Join in an end-of-summer party on Toby’s Plaza, featuring live music, virtual reality and summertime activities, and an outdoor showing of the 2019 blockbuster movie, “Aquaman.”
