The new Falls Edge Glass Walkway at Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park is now open to visitors.
The 137-foot-long pedestrian bridge features structural-grade glass decking and an “S” shape design that allows visitors to walk directly above Sylvan Creek’s gorge and gaze down 50-feet to the water below. The walkway ends just short of Minnehaha Falls, with a section that gives visitors the sensation of floating above the waterfall itself.

Constructed with galvanized and painted steel, stainless steel cable railings, fiberglass grating, and transparent glass panels, the walkway offers an immersive and safe vantage point to view the rugged rock formations, cascading water, and lush gorge below without damaging sensitive natural features.
Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park is known for dramatic formations like Devil’s Icebox, The Narrows, and Goldhunter’s Cave. But with popularity has come increased risk, as some visitors venture off marked trails, endangering both themselves and the environment. The Falls Edge project addresses these concerns by offering a controlled yet thrilling experience that brings guests closer to the geology that makes the park such a treasure.
As part of the project, ODNR also installed new wayfinding stations at key points of interest throughout the park. These interpretive signs help visitors navigate the trails while offering quick facts and insights into the unique geology, plant life, and natural features that define Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park enhancing both exploration and appreciation.
“This project is the perfect blend of innovation and conservation,” said ODNR Director Mary Mertz. “The Falls Edge Glass Walkway provides visitors with an unforgettable view of this beautiful park while helping us protect the delicate ecosystems and remarkable geology that make Nelson-Kennedy Ledges so special.”
Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park is in northeast Ohio and is open daily from dawn to dusk. Visitors are reminded to remain on marked trails and explore responsibly to protect the park’s fragile features.
