Noon Year’s Eve at the Zoo —Wednesday, December 31 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free with zoo admission.The ball drops at noon over the Zoo’s Welcome Plaza during this popular, family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration. After-Noon Year’s Eve Party! December 31 at 3 – 6 p.m.Head to Merwin’s Wharf for a family friendly  You’ve watched the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s Noon Year’s Eve ball drop.  Refuel with a kid-friendly buffet, entertainment and music. This event is open to families with children 12 and younger. New Year’s Celebration at Summit Metroparks  — 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Enjoy a morning filled with fun for the entire family. Crafts, activities and refreshments will help ring in the New Year. Take a hike while you are here, then warm up by the campfire. Marshmallows are provided. FASN/Visitors Center, 1828 Smith Road, Akron.

First Night Akron —6 p.m.-Midnight Make plans for New Year’s Eve and join the fun in Downtown Akron. Now in its 19th year, First Night Akron is a New Year’s Eve celebration unlike any other. This family-friendly, alcohol-free celebration of the arts brings the community together to experience a brief moment in time while creating lasting memories. Come in out of the cold and celebrate the New Year.  Enjoy indoor entertainment and fun for all ages throughout Downtown Akron featuring the region’s best in music, dance, theater, visual and interactive arts. The First Night Akron admission button is a unique piece of art designed by a local artist each year. Admission buttons are only $10. Children under 10 are free when accompanied by a button wearing adult. Check website for where you can purchase buttons around town and map of the event.

New Year’s Eve at Noon — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participate in fun, hands-on activities and make a craft to take home. Count down to noon in the planetarium with a special show. Apple juice for toasting, a light snack, and noisemakers will be provided. There is limited space so make your reservations early. Adults: $10 ; Youth $8.
