The Akron Zoo is offering Inclusion Days on Saturday, March 1 – Monday, March 3, in partnership with Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board. Guests who wear orange to the zoo will receive free admission for the day.
On Saturday, March 1, the zoo and Summit DD will offer inclusion activity tables that focus on animal-inspired activities, such as sensory, communication, movement and more. On Sunday, March 2, guests can also enjoy up-close animal encounters throughout the day. On Monday, March 3, guests can stop by Summit DD’s table to explore Assistive Technology.
Inclusion Days at the Akron Zoo celebrate National Developmental Disabilities Awareness month in March. Inclusion Day, created by Summit DD, is a way to spread the message of inclusion and show support for people of all abilities.
“At Summit DD, building a community where every citizen is included is at the heart of what we do every day,” shares Summit DD Superintendent Lisa Kamlowsky. “We are honored to work alongside dedicated community partners, like the Akron Zoo, who share this vision of a more inclusive Summit County. With the 6th Annual Inclusion Days at the Zoo, our organizations proudly continue celebrating inclusion for people of all abilities in our community.”
