Peninsula Hosts “Caboose for a Cause” Toy Drive to Spread Holiday Cheer

This month, the Village of Peninsula will capture the holiday spirit with a heartfelt community-wide toy drive in partnership with the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

For nearly 40 years, Peninsula has been a magical holiday destination, serving as the “North Pole” for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad’s (CVSR) holiday excursions. This year, CVSR, the Peninsula Foundation, the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, the GAR Hall, and local businesses are teaming up to bring joy to children across Northeast Ohio through Caboose for a Cause.

From December 1–15, donations of new, unwrapped toys will be collected at Peninsula Coffee House, Peninsula Village Antiques, the GAR Hall, and the Peninsula Depot. During the Candlelight Walk on December 5 and Reindeer Day on December 7, donations can also be dropped off at the CVSR Caboose near the depot, where visitors will have the unique opportunity to explore this vintage railcar.

“Together, we can bring joy to families in need and show the warmth and generosity that make Peninsula such a beloved holiday destination,” said Lynee Bixler, director of marketing for CVSR.
