If your child loves running, jumping, climbing and staying in constant motion, Functions of Life in Broadview Heights might just be their new favorite place! The kids’ ninja warrior classes offer fun, fitness, discipline and skill building.
Whether they just need to burn off some energy, challenge themselves on the obstacle courses, or keep in shape during the off-season for their school sports, it’s guaranteed to be an exciting and active experience. The Kids Ninja Warrior Classes are offered during a variety of days and times. With classes for both big kids and little kids, they serve ages 4 to 12.
Coach Mike leads the ninjas with group strength training exercises, but allows free time for the majority of the session, where the kids have been given goals to meet, working independently at their own pace.
Some of the activities you will see in the ninja warrior obstacle course include: jagged jigsaw wall, monkey bar mountain, sky rings, rock wall, quintuple steps, peg board, warped wall, tire jumps and hurdles.
(Here is a video of my daughter participating in one of the past ninja warrior competitions, which gives a good visual of the obstacle course)
Rewards are offered in the form of “Ninja Bucks,” which can be saved and eventually traded in for prizes. (Trust me when I tell you, the ninja bucks are serious business!)
Optional homework also is given with fitness assignments for the week, and various other topics to explore, such as: discipline, respect and values.
Coach Mike is great with the kids, and they all really admire and respect him. He motivates, encourages, and pushes them to do their best. My daughter looks forward to going each week, and I enjoy seeing her progress and she becomes stronger and more confident.
Classes fill up quickly, and pre-registration on the website is required. There is no set commitment; you can try just one class, or sign up for a longer term. The cost is $15 per class or three classes for $40.
Ninja Warrior training is just one of the classes offered at Functions of Life. It offers numerous resources (of the non-ninja warrior variety) for teens and adults, including personal training, boot camps, fitness classes, strength training, conditioning and more.
