Have you ever dreamed of the possibilities of something incredible happening to you before you started a new adventure? Have you ever looked ahead on your life path, hoping that it would lead you to certain destinations and discoveries? That was me before I launched my website, Family Money Adventure, and before I started writing. The incredible possibility I alluded to was being selected to become a Northeast Ohio Parent Blogger. As a local parent, I see Northeast Ohio Parent magazine everywhere I go and have been an avid follower of their magazine, website, and social media. My wife, Barb, has even been featured in the magazine because she is the bomb. The information and insight they provide our community is top notch and I thought that if I could be part of their team, I could share some lessons I’ve learned in my life and maybe help some other fellow Clevelanders.
Today that dream has become a reality. I am officially the newest addition to the Northeast Ohio Parent blogging team! I am humbled, to say the least.
I was born in Michigan (sorry) and moved around the Mitten a few times growing up before my dad was transferred to Indianapolis for work. A few years immersed in Hoosier culture developed my love for the game of basketball. After another work change, our family ended up in Brunswick, Ohio, just before my 8th grade school year. As an adult, I’ve left Northeast Ohio a couple years for college and then another stint in the Hoosier state for work, but for the past 12+ years, our family has called Cleveland home.
My family? Well, there is Barb, the most amazing partner and friend I could ever have. Barb and I have four children and that’s more than enough for us! We have two boys and then we adopted two sisters almost eight years ago. Throw in one evil cat and we make one unique Cleveland family. Barb and I both work full-time. I coach basketball. Barb is active in PTA at our kids’ schools. We spend time volunteering at our church, working with teenagers. These days it seems like our lives mostly consist of running our kids around to various sports practices, activities, and friends’ houses. Can you relate?
I’m excited to share with the NEO Parent community about two of my greatest passions: family travel and personal finances. Growing up, I loved going on family vacations, exploring new places and experiencing new adventures. Travel has helped shape my life and the type of experiences I want to provide for my own children. Money helped shaped my life as well, mostly by me making a lot of dumb choices during my 20s and 30s. I’ve learned from those life lessons and have worked hard to create a better life for my family by being smarter with financial decisions.
My website, Family Money Adventure, was created to help families gain control of their finances so living a life of adventure doesn’t have to be a dream. With that in mind, my focus as a Northeast Ohio Parent blogger is to help local families learn from my lessons, set themselves up for financial success, and share our ideas on how to explore NEO (and the world) without breaking the bank.
