The new west side campus of The Music Settlement at the corner of Detroit Avenue and West 25th Street will be like its 106-year-old University Circle campus counterpart.
The 19,000-plus-square-foot west side campus features an early childhood wing with a science room, six classrooms and a playground designed to focus on creative and developmental skills.
Programming featuring early childhood education for children ages 3-5 years and arts for infants and toddlers began Aug. 16. Music instruction and music therapy for all ages and interests will begin in September.
A multi-use music innovation wing will house both The Music Settlement’s music therapy and music instruction programs. Two music therapy studios have been created with one-way mirrors for therapists or family to observe sessions, as well as for training and supervising interns and practicum students.
The community is invited to explore the new campus at its grand opening on August 26 from 1-4 p.m.
Through its $8.5 million fundraising campaign, The Music Settlement is investing in capital needs and programming innovations across both campuses, as well as an expansion of its current student financial aid offerings.
“Introducing the unique programs available at The Music Settlement to residents and businesses located downtown and on the west side brings a new creative sensibility to the neighborhood and surrounding areas,” says Geralyn (Geri) M. Presti, president and CEO. “We are excited, energized and enthusiastic about this new campus, the many community partnership opportunities and becoming an integral part of this vibrant neighborhood.”
