The holidays are drawing near — and what better way to celebrate than with a home-cooked meal?
No matter what holidays your family celebrates, we at Northeast Ohio Parent want to know what’s on your table! Share a must-have menu item that’s always a part of your family’s celebrations — whether on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc. — and be entered to win a Turkey on the Table (see information below).
We’ll feature some of the dishes in a “Holiday Potluck” feature in the December issue of Northeast Ohio Parent magazine, as well as on our website.
Remember, we are seeking your family favorites, not just an online recipe that sounds tasty. The dish can be simple or fancy, but we want to hear how you prepare it and why your family loves it. (In the case of a top-secret family recipe, there’s no obligation to divulge the details, but we’d love know what the dish is called and why it’s an important tradition.)
For recipes shared in the magazine and on our website, we will only include the submitter’s first name and city. Contact information will be kept confidential and will only be used by Northeast Ohio Parent staff in the case of questions or clarification.
Turkey on the Table was created by two moms determined to instill gratitude in their young children. Leading up to Thanksgiving, the family comes together to write down what they are thankful for on the turkey‘s feathers and then place the messages on their knit turkey until he is “fully dressed” with feathers and ready to be displayed for the big day. It comes with a book that helps explain the process to kids and teach them about being grateful. With each turkey purchased, the company donates 10 meals to families in need through its partnership with Feeding America.
