Celebrate Presidents Day Around Northeast Ohio

In honor of Presidents Day on Monday, February 16, here’s a few fun places you can visit to keep the kids entertained on their day off from school — and learn something new in the process! Plus, a few other events to keep the kids’ busy!

 

Visit the William McKinley Presidential Library and Museum. This President’s Day, join them at the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum to explore history and engage with inspiring exhibits. Presidents Day at the Rutherford B. Hayes Museum. Celebrate Presidents’ Day with free admission and activities at  America’s first presidential library. Visitors can take a free, self-guided tour of the museum, enjoy presidential trivia, story time, a scavenger hunt and more! 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Rutherford B. Presidents Day at Maltz Museum. Celebrate history this Presidents Day at the Maltz Museum with a full day of discovery and community for all ages. Enjoy FREE admission all day long as you explore our galleries, meet iconic historical figures, and participate in hands-on family activities. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 2929 Richmond Road, Beachwood, maltzmuseum.org

Visit the Akron Zoo. The Akron Zoo is offering free admission for all guests on Presidents’ Day.  11 a.m. – 4 p.m., Akron Zoo, 500 Edgewood Ave., Akron, www.akronzoo.org

Lake Metroparks Events. Families looking for fun ways to spend Presidents Day can enjoy three hands-on, kid-friendly events across Lake Metroparks. The parks will offer interactive experiences focused on wildlife, geology and farm life designed for young learners. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Penitentiary Glen Reservation, Fun Day: Pocket Monsters will explore real animals that inspired popular gaming creatures through games, activities and live animal chats. Also from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Rock Around the Park Open House at Jordan Creek Park’s Environmental Learning Center will highlight geology with rock specimens, crafts and educational activities.
