Geauga Park District reopens its “ropes & boats” recreational offerings.

Claridon Woodlands’ ropes course was a huge hit in its debut year, featuring platforms 32 feet off the ground linked by eight 23-to-32-foot-long challenge elements with fitting names like Wobbly Logs, Tarzan Stump Traverse, Ride the Wave and Wobbly XOXO. Ready to come back down to earth? Your exit is an exciting 100-foot-long zipline.

 This year’s ropes course season opens Sunday, May 29. Days open will be Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30, 2, 3 and 4 p.m.; and Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 4, 5 and 6 p.m.

One-hour sessions will be free to Geauga County residents (ID required) but cost $20 for out-of-county residents (credit card only, paid onsite).

To learn age requirements, weight restrictions and much more, please consider the information posted at to be required reading before you head out to Claridon Woodlands for this adventure. That is also the website where reservations can be made (highly recommended), and availability according to those reservations can be assessed.

Also at Claridon Woodlands, already open all times of day is the 12-foot-high, 900-square-foot freeform boulder wall, complete with new routes and special new hand/foot holds to mix things up.

For those craving adventure on the water, self-guided tours of East Branch Reservoir will also become available beginning Sunday, June 5, starting at the Headwaters Park Boathouse: your late spring and summer hub for kayak and canoe borrowing on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information as it becomes available, watch our website under News & Updates.

Geauga County residents can borrow the park’s limited number of kayaks and canoes for free (ID required); out-of-county residents must pay $5 per hour for adults, $3 per hour for kids 12 and under, and $8 for tandem (credit card only, paid onsite). Provided life vests must be worn at all times.

To learn more, please read the information posted at before you head out for a boat.
