January 17
Fire and Ice Walk at Lorain County Metroparks. Watch artists create cool ice sculptures and warm yourself up at fire pits along the icy cliffs of the Vermilion River. Enjoy the sights and sounds of winter, have fun roasting S’mores (while supplies last), visit with sled dogs and ‘Frozen’ characters, and learn about winter fun activities. Take a ride on the Little Green Choo train to see all the winter beauty in Mill Hollow’s Vermilion River Valley. Naturalist-led scenic snowshoe hikes will also be held, weather permitting. We will have a variety of food trucks selling warm treats and hot beverages, and the Carriage Barn will be open as an additional warming space. This is a ticketed event, and registration is REQUIRED. Mentor Chill Out. Enjoy amazing ice sculptures and live ice carving demonstrations, skate on the outdoor ice rink, create winter-themed crafts, sledding (if weather permits), and cheer on participants during the popular Zamboni Pull. Families can also enjoy the video game truck, making this event fun for kids and adults alike. Free. 1-6 p.m. Mentor Civic Center Complex

Kent Snow Day Festival. Join Main Street Kent for the third annual, family-friendly Snow Day complete with live music, fire pits, free s’mores (while supplies last), an ice carving demo and display, free crafts with Kent Parks & Recreation, Kent Jaycees and Portage Parks, winter Olympic Games with Kent State University, and tons of activities and specials at local businesses. 12-6 p.m. Main Street Kent.
January 24
Akron Frost Feast. Visit businesses across the neighborhood to try free crafts and activities, hear live music by local musicians and enjoy a hot cocoa and cookie crawl. Activity will be clustered in various locations along Main Street, in the Northside District, at Lock 3 and more. At Lock 3, there will be a very special live ice-carvings performed every hour on the hour (12, 1, 2, 3 & 4 p.m.). 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Downtown Akron.

Ice Festival at Crocker Park. Celebrate the magic of winter at Crocker Park during our annual Ice Festival, presented by Hathaway Brown. Experience a weekend filled with shopping, dining, and incredible seasonal fun. Stroll through stunning large 3D ice displays that make the perfect backdrop for photos, and watch talented artists bring frozen masterpieces to life during live ice sculpture demonstrations. Enjoy heartwarming live music as you explore the festival, and browse unique offerings from local vendors and more. The festivities kick off Friday at 5 p.m. and continue all weekend long. Don’t miss this chance to embrace the beauty of winter and create unforgettable memories with family and friends. Crocker Park.

Ice Affair in Vermillion. Celebrating its 17th Anniversary, the event features over 50 ice sculptures created by Elegant Ice Creations, Cleveland’s top ice sculptors. Visitors and residents alike will enjoy live demonstrations, a kids frozen play space, kids train rides as well as shopping, and dining at our local businesses.A highlight of the day is when fire and ice combine in a spectacular chimney of ice set a blaze to music and fire dancing performers. We wind down at the annual Melt Down Party where you will find warmth, raffles and yummy food and drink. Tickets available in advance to attend the Melt Down Party. Main Street Vermillion.

32nd Annual Medina Ice Festival. Come enjoy a weekend on the square and see some spectacular ice sculptures. On Friday night see the amazing Fire & Ice Tower spark to life! Saturday will be full of live sculpting demos and competitions. Main Street Medina.
