Rocky River Boy Gifted Dream Sports Bedroom During Leukemia Battle

7-year-old Spencer, a Rocky River resident, was surprised with a dream, sports-themed bedroom as he battles Leukemia.

Spencer, a 7-year-old Rocky River boy fighting Leukemia, was recently surprised with a dream bedroom as part of a partnership with Shurtape Technologies – which markets FrogTape brand painter’s tape — and Special Spaces, a nonprofit that creates dream bedrooms for children battling cancer.

Spencer shared his wish for a sports-inspired room with the designers, a group that included DIY influencer Tasha Ahruso of Kaleidoscope Living and veteran interior designer and DIY TV personality Taniya Nayak. With FrogTape and Special Spaces working to bring his vision to life, the makeover team received generous donations of memorabilia to incorporate into his space from some of his favorite sports teams, including the Cleveland Guardians, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Browns. Additionally, FrogTape has donated $15,000 to cover the costs of the project.

The room was designed to be a place where he can rest and recover from Leukemia treatment with ease, while also being an enjoyable and relaxing hangout spot, decked out with athletic décor and gear from his beloved teams.

Video of the reveal with Spencer shows him realizing his new room’s walls are painted with a football field theme – yard markers and all – and shelves show off his favorite trading cards. Built-in shelves in his closet are adorned by sports trophies and some of his favorite Guardians bobbleheads.

“I like it a lot!” he says as he surveys the new digs.
