For the first time in 17 years, Cleveland Ballet will present a delightful, new production of the traditional holiday classical ballet “The Nutcracker Suite” in Playhouse Square.
Performances take place at the Hanna Theatre on Saturday, December 16 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 17 at 1 p.m. The Sunday matinee includes an opportunity to enjoy English-style afternoon tea following the performance, with a chance to meet the cast of professional dancers.
Paired with Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score, this storybook ballet will transport audience members of all ages on an adventurous journey around the world, all through the imagination of a young girl.
Children Invited to Audition
Cleveland Ballet invites local children to participate on stage alongside its professional dancers. The company encourages interested children to attend an open audition on Saturday, September 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gund Studio at Playhouse Square.
The company plans to cast 60 individuals for the children’s roles. Audition pre-registration is mandatory. More details can be found at clevelandballet.org.
