Hawken Summer Programs is pleased to offer camp options to suit every child’s interests and passions. Traditional day camp options, summer forest program adventures, week-long Passport specialty camps, athletics camps, Camp LEAD, and summer studies provide your child the opportunity for fun, exploration, growth, and learning.
Hawken Day Camps encompass a broad menu of programs that include a variety of sports, arts, science, adventure, design and construction, and aquatics activities specifically designed to be age-appropriate, fun, and worthwhile. Children learn new skills, practice taking healthy risks, and accomplish meaningful goals; at the same time, their curiosity, creativity, and thinking skills are greatly enriched.
Families can choose from our Hawklings program (ages 4-6), Boys Day Camp (K- grade 5), Girls Day Camp (K-5), Boys Sports Camp (grades 4-8), and Girls Lifetime Adventure Camp (grades 4-8).
In addition to our emotionally nurturing environment, campers are provided with a nutritious lunch each day and have the option to participate in our pre- and after- care services. Hawken Forest Program offers sessions for students from PK through grade 6 and features an immersive, week-long adventure set in Hawken’s beautiful forest. Campers will spend the week hiking, exploring the natural world, and discovering the wonders of nature. With the ever-changing landscape, every day offers something new. Led by experienced instructors, this camp emphasizes collaboration, environmental awareness, and personal growth in a fun, supportive environment.
Hawken Athletics Camps offer skill-driven, sport-centered instruction for individuals seeking to improve their game. Taught the “Hawken way” and led by Hawken coaches, Hawken Athletics Summer Camps provide young athletes an opportunity to hone their skills, improve team-play, and learn from the best. Campers will work hard, test their limits, and have a blast doing it. Instruction will be structured around individualized skill development, team-play components, situational games, and live-action play. Athletic camps are available in soccer, basketball, field hockey, wrestling, football, and volleyball.
Passport Camps offer children of all ages unique, week-long (full and half day) opportunities to explore, create, learn, and have fun. These camps are specifically designed to foster imagination and curiosity while developing new skills. Children looking for a variety of experiences throughout the summer can piece together a full summer of fun tailored to their interests or simply enjoy the excitement of a one-week adventure.
Passport camps are offered in science and math; theater; visual arts; design and construction; culinary; games, sports, and physical fitness; technology and creativity; mythology, mystery, and adventure; and innovation.
Camp LEAD “Fish Tank” for rising 5th through 8th graders is a dynamic, interactive one-week summer camp designed to inspire and develop entrepreneurial skills. Each day, campers engage in activities that foster critical thinking and creative problem-solving. They tackle real-world business challenges, such as identifying leadership traits in potential hires or designing prototypes for innovative products.
Working in teams, campers learn to navigate diverse personality types, improve communication skills, and collaborate effectively—all while having fun and driving positive change. The experience culminates on the final day with a boardroom-style presentation, where campers pitch their ideas to a panel of special guest “Sharks”—real company representatives ready to evaluate their innovative solutions!
Hawken Summer Studies is a 6-week summer program of credit, review, preview, and enrichment classes for students entering grades 6-12. In-person classes are offered on our Gates Mills and University Circle campuses and remote classes are taken in the comfort of your own home.
We offer mathematics, science, English, writing, critical reading, SAT & ACT prep, and health studies courses. We also provide independent study and credit support classes. The Summer Studies program is open to public, parochial, home, and private school students except where noted.
All registrations must be completed through our CampBrain system, accessible at hawken.edu/summer. Phone, email, or paper registration is not available. Camp sizes are limited and designed to foster meaningful relationships between campers and their counselors, coaches, and instructors.
