“Tax Free Weekend has really grown in popularity throughout the years and Great Northern Mall is excited to enhance the back-to-school shopping experience even further with some memorable events and activations for guests of all ages,” said Dan Crandall, marketing and business development manager at Great Northern Mall. “We also encourage people to take in all that is new throughout the mall, including a dozen new retailers and a number of new pieces of public art.”

Ohio’s Sales Tax Holiday offers shoppers the chance to stock up and save on all their back-to-school essentials. Given a year of record inflation, it is a welcome opportunity for shoppers hoping to stretch their dollars. The National Retail Federation collaborated with Prosper Insights & Analytics to ask consumers about the back-to-school season and learn more about how higher prices and the state of the U.S. economy are impacting shopper plans.

Eighty-four percent of respondents expect to see higher prices when back-to-school and back-to-college shopping this year, with a vast majority expecting to see those increased prices for clothing, accessories and school supplies. As such, many are implementing savings-focused shopping behaviors, including shopping for sales more often, buying more store brand/generic products and using more coupons.
