The Star Wars franchise has spanned 42 Years, and whether your love began back in 1977 with Luke, Han Solo, Princess Leia and Darth Vader — or you are sucked into the love/hate relationship of Kylo and Rey — all your Star Wars dreams can happen at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both Disneyland and coming soon to Walt Disney World.
When Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., opened the Star Wars attraction on May 31, people traveled from all over the country to be one of the first to see this epic new land. Galaxy’s Edge is the biggest expansion in recent history, adding 14 new acres to Disneyland. Walt Disney World also is getting the 14-acre land, coming to Hollywood Studios on Aug. 29.
Upon opening Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, fans will flock to pilot the Millennium Falcon — Smugglers Run, the first of two big rides that will be featured. Each flight will include a team of six people, each of whom will be given a job. The more successful the team is on the ride, the better its members will be treated as they exit the ride area!
Soon after the land’s opening (date not currently available), the second ride will open — Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the most ambitious ride to come to all of the Disney Parks.
There also will be adventurous dining and the Black Spire Outpost is bound to bring excitement to all — but you never know who you can trust; after all, it is an outpost for traders, smugglers and the like.
Along with this epic new land will come a Star Wars-themed hotel. This is a few years away, but Disney has broken ground and little tidbits have been released. Here, you will be able to act out your Star Wars Fantasy, to be given a role and play your part.
Do you love the idea of a Star Wars experience, but the parks just aren’t your thing? Consider a Star Wars cruise. Disney Cruise Line provides one full day of Star Wars activities on select seven-night cruises.
Star Wars fans will feel at home in these immersive new lands and Visit Mickey, exclusive travel partner of Northeast Ohio Parent, is here to help make it happen. Remember its services are free!
