Last weekend, my family traveled back in time and spent a day in 13th Century England at The Great Lakes Medieval Faire & Marketplace. Though our family is on the younger side, there was still plenty to do.

Families can read a book (any book) to their newborn, infant, and/or toddler, according to 1000 Books Foundation in Nevada, which supports the early literacy initiative. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (families can repeat books) before your child starts kindergarten. This ongoing, self-directed program provides opportunities to earn rewards at these participating libraries.

Moms and dads can enjoy activities, playgroups, community service and parent-only events at these Northeast Ohio groups. Strongsville Early Childhood PTA and Emerald Valley Mothers of Multiples are hosting free events this week to encourage families to come out and learn about the groups and have some fun with the family.

Water is an important player in keeping your child healthy. Among its many duties, water aids digestion, helps prevent constipation, normalizes blood pressure and helps stabilize heartbeat and more. It also helps keep weight in check.

Families can bring a blanket or lawn chair for this free community event. See a great movie on the big screen under the night sky with Cleveland's skyline as the backdrop. Also, food trucks, games and music from great local bands will happen before the show.
