Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Ohio, backed by the movie theater giant Regal, this summer are participating in the Summer Movie Express 2024 program, which is designed to help kids avoid summer learning setbacks.
Through the program, children engage in fun learning activities related to their favorite movies, with BCGNEO members from Lorain County traveling to Regal Crocker Park in Westlake on July 16 to view “Sonic 1” and on July 23 to see “Sonic 2.”
The clubs received a $5,000 grant from Regal to participate, and will participate in various learning activities related to the films and receive a snack pack and hot dog for lunch.
There will be a second Regal-BGCNEO collaboration on July 24, when employees of the company’s Regal Cobblestone Square Theatre in Sheffield will play a kickball game with Club kids at the Desich campus.
Grants from Regal facilitate transportation to and from movie theatres, purchase discounted tickets, include entertaining educational activities, and ensure Club members have access to concessions.
