What’s Open Northeast Ohio? Here’s a List of Family-Friendly Virtual or In-Person Activities

While the COVID-19 pandemic kept things closed in Northeast Ohio, many family-friendly places and attractions have opened their doors, either virtually or in-person. We list museums, historical sites and tours, nature and science centers, zoos, parks and other attractions that have offerings and other popular sites that are temporary closed for the season.

*Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these openings are subject to change. Please check with venues before attending to ensure times and availability are valid and to understand health guidelines. Please follow state guidelines, including wearing face coverings, maintaining 6 feet apart from others and washing hands.


Akron Art Museum
Temporarily closed. Information and virtual experiences available online.

Akron Children’s Museum
Temporarily closed. Information and virtual experiences available online.

Canton Museum of Art
Galleries are now open during normal museum hours. Extended hours have been added on Fridays and Saturdays through the end of February. Click here for details, including ticket reservations and health & safety precautions.

Castle Noel

Children’s Museum of Cleveland

Cleveland History Center
Public hours (effective Feb. 5) are Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Virtual experiences available online.

Cleveland Museum of Art
Museum, Museum Store and the Cafe (for grab-and-go options) are open. No on-site programs at this time. Advance free tickets are highly recommended and can be reserved by clicking here. Information and virtual experiences available online.

Cleveland Museum of Natural History
Open for expanded hours (beginning Feb. 3) Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Click here for hours and details, including health & safety precautions. Information and virtual experiences available online. cmnh.org

Learning Center and Money Museum
Closed until further notice. Now scheduling virtual field trips; information available online.

Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage
Open to the public on Sundays and Mondays by advance-purchase, timed-ticket reservation only. Click here for details and to reserve tickets.

McKinley Presidential Library & Museum
Open to the public Tuesday through Saturday. Click here for hours, information, and health & safety precautions.

Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (moCa Cleveland)
Closed for installation of a new exhibit; will reopen to the public in February.

Pro Football Hall of Fame
Open daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Open daily from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Advance tickets required (click here to order tickets).



Century Village Museum
Grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Crossroads Museum Store is open Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall
Concerts during March to June have been cancelled. A schedule of performances without audiences will continue during these months, to be filmed and presented free to subscribers as part of the Orchestra’s In Focus broadcast series on the Adella app and adella.live

Hale Farm & Village
Closed for the season. The annual Maple Sugar Days and Pancake Breakfast will return on March 13, 14, 20 & 21, 2021 – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Required Presale timed tickets are now available. Click here to make your reservation

James A. Garfield National Historic Site
Visitor Center is open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Virtual tours of the Garfield Home are available while the house is closed. Grounds are open daily from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Sauder Village
Closed for the season, with the following year-round offerings available: Barn Restaurant, Doughbox Bakery, retail shops, Sauder Heritage Inn and Founders Hall.

Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens
Opens for the 2021 season on April 1.



Akron Fossils & Science Center
Open Saturdays only from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Cleveland Metroparks Nature Centers
Nature Centers & Nature Shops: Brecksville Nature Center, Brecksville Trailside Program Center, Canalway Center, Edgewater Nature Shop, North Chagrin Nature Center, Rocky River Nature Center and Watershed Stewardship Center are currently closed. However,
outdoor education and recreation is still available. Please visit for activity offerings and programming.

COSI (Center of Science & Industry)
Temporarily closed. Information and digital programming available online.

Great Lakes Science Center
Open Thursday through Sunday. Advance tickets required. Click here for details and to reserve tickets.

Lake Erie Nature & Science Center
Open Tuesday through Saturday. Advance registration required for general admission and all programs.

Nature Center at Shaker Lakes
Building is temporarily closed. Trails and outdoor facilities will remain free and open to the public from dawn until dusk.


Akron Zoo
Open daily from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; Tuesdays from 10-11 a.m. reserved for guests who may be vulnerable to COVID-19. Tickets must be purchased online in advance.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
Open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Advance reservations not required. The zoo asks that 10-11:30 a.m. each morning be designated for vulnerable populations, but it is not required.

Greater Cleveland Aquarium
Open weekdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and weekends 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Click here for more information, including health & safety guidelines.
