Piano Concerts
This summer Piano Cleveland brings the Cleveland International Piano Competition for Young
Artists to University Circle with solo piano, chamber music, a first-of-its-kind competition event,
a recital by one of piano’s great luminaries, and its signature Final Concerto Round with the
Canton Symphony Orchestra. In addition to the competition events, Piano Cleveland is hosting
free community concerts featuring the young pianists from all over the world. You’ll want to
have a front row seat to the future of the classical piano world!

See thirteen of the world’s most promising young musicians ages 10-18 in this summer’s
Cleveland International Piano Competition for Young Artists. The competition consists of a
Semi-Final and Final Round with multiple events in each round. Plus, famed pianist and Final
Masterclass Round guest artist, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, will play a solo recital.
Semi-Final Solo Round

The contestants make their Cleveland debut, showcasing their individuality and virtuosity! The
solo rounds are the perfect starting point for the competition and for audiences because you get
to see the artist up close and personal.
Semi-Final Chamber Round

Two nights of spirited musical collaboration! Rising Star contestants (ages 10-12) play four-hand
pieces with Cleveland International Piano Competition laureate, Khanh Nhi Luong, while Junior
and Senior Division contestants perform as part of a trio with ENCORE Chamber Institute
Faculty. Note: The winner of the Rising Star Division will be announced after the final
performance on July 28.
Final Masterclass Round

This year’s Final Masterclass Round is a first in the classical piano competition world. Piano
legend and Cleveland competition laureate Jean-Yves Thibaudet transforms and elevates the
artistry of the young artists before your eyes. You will get to see a master at work. But, most
importantly, Cleveland is the only place where you’ll see this in a competition.

While he is in Cleveland, renowned pianist and Cleveland competition laureate Jean-Yves
Thibaudet plays a rare solo recital of Debussy’s complete Préludes.
Final Concerto Round

The Final Concerto Round with the Canton Symphony Orchestra returns! See the Finalists
perform concerto movements, then see the Rising Star Division winner perform. A celebratory
reception will be held following the awards ceremony.
Community Events
In addition to the competition rounds, Piano Cleveland is hosting free community concerts with
partner organizations featuring young pianists from all over the world.
