September marks the end of summer and the start of fall. Make the most of the change in seasons — and the start of the school year — by filling your weekends with family fun. Need a few ideas? We’ve got your plans all ready! From nearby festivals to farther away adventures, mark your calendars. Here are our suggestions for activities to keep your crew busy every weekend this month — and even beyond.
September 9:
Dubbed “A Festival for the Fast and the Curious,” you’ll want to check out Edgewater Park during NEOCycle, the country’s largest urban cycling festival. You don’t have to be a diehard cyclist to enjoy this celebration of the outdoors. Grab grub from one of the many food trucks and then listen to live music before meandering over to watch BMX bikers do seemingly impossible jumps into the air. My favorite part of the festival? The Night Ride held Saturday evening.
Before you head to the park, stop at Jack Flaps right along Lorain for breakfast — I recommend the Lemon Curd pancakes for something familiar with pops of citrus zing, or the Breakfast Bahn Mi if you’re feeling adventurous. And if you’re not staying for the night ride (training wheels would be tough on this one), visit other spots along the ride route. My kids are always up for splitting a Mount Carmel sundae from Sweet Moses in Gordon Square.
Look ahead to fall weekend fun the rest of this month, too!
September 16: Castles & Apple Fritters
